New Prints

Took an awesome intro to printmaking class this semester. Here are some of my paints. Our first project was a linoleum cut. I did a print based on a Aesop fable. Printed on Japanese rice papers.

Our next two projects were copper plate etchings. We started with a drypoint etching. I made a lovely little victorian wedding portrait of my friends cat and mine. For our second etching we used acid to burn our copper plates. I again did a illustration based off another Aesop fable. Printed on Rives BFK.

Our next printing project was mono type prints. I did a collection of studies of burlesque and pinups. Each is one of a kind (mono) and can't be recreated. Printed on Rives BFK
"Vixen" Monoprint '13

Our final assignment was silk screen prints. I did an illustration on two of my favorite smugglers. Printed on French Paper.

I also took the first class being offered in the new letter press studio this year. We worked on universal Vandercook printing press, using set type and linoleum cuts. Our final project was to create a unique broadside self promotion. Printed on French Paper.

I Cried When The Rancor Died

I've finally found time to upload some new and old work, that i scanned the other day. So if you happen to not know, I love Star Wars. I was sketching around one day and found myself looking at the cute face of the rancor during the winter break. Done in ink, watercolor and coffee staining.
Here I have some old work from high school, and from my portfolio for college. The first on the left is from 2007 I believe for an AP portfolio, called the Protector. It was done in color pencil and acrylic white. The three gold fish in the illustrator were actually my old pets when they were alive.
On the right is a self portrait i did for one of my portfolios for colleges in 2009.
Its of a praying dead stain glass Saint. The illustration was inspired by tattoos. This was an interesting color pencil picture i did. Now on to some newer work. The last three are from last 2010 summer. The all were done in ink, watercolor and color pencil.
